Electric Eel Shock (EES) is a high-energy Japanese rock trio formed in Tokyo in 1994 by guitarist/vocalist Akihito “Aki” Morimoto, bassist Kazuto Maekawa, and drummer Tomoharu “Gian” Ito. Their music fuses classic rock, punk, and heavy metal influences, drawing comparisons to bands like Black Sabbath and AC/DC. Known for their wild live performances—often featuring Gian drumming with minimal attire—the band has built a global cult following. In 2024, they celebrated their 30th anniversary with the release of “Heavy Metal Black Belt” and an extensive European tour.
